MIXED MEDIUM #3: Rule Your Red-emption!

We’ve got scarlet fever this week, as the blood moon crosses into the PASTEL psychic sphere and into your reading!

Love and Relationships:

Every week, we’re giving you the golden instruction to get off the couch and into the comforts of a relationship (with a lover, friend or yourself) cushioned with commitment. This week, it’s a pinch of that again, but now with added perspective: perhaps you’ve tried again and again with a connection, and it’s just not blooming into the crimson flower you hoped it would be? Well, snip snip, bish. Focus your attention on the relationships that suggest the most tangible abundance, not the ones you fantastise will spice up your life with no real proof of the golden ingredient in play. This is a time to rethink your relationships before you’re seeing red with regret.

While on one hand, it’s about letting go of what’s not working, on the other, it’s about lavishing in the abundant relationships you do have, but are perhaps leaving cold at the door. The King of Pentacles sits on a throne gilded with riches; the Four of Pentacles has his wealth behind him and beneath his feet; the Queen of Cups is wearing that lovely shawl snatched from a reality television winner’s eBay fundraiser (and she’s drinking from our favourite receptacle: a supersized cup o’ fermented grape). Relax into folds of friendships worth living for, not for the ones drilling one nail into the coffin with every ‘we should totally hang out.’

Personal Growth:

The Sun card is shining bright (“like a ______”) this week and we’re lapping up this clear-skied psychic weather by allowing lights to gloss the areas of our lives in need of shining up. When we leave our gardens to grow, letting our eyes leave the patio, weeds shoot up from underneath – and often, just as the sun sees all greenery push through the dirt, our best intentions can give way to unpleasant hangers-on. While you’re polishing parts, be sure to sandpaper the rust away. Your time is now (it always is now; it can’t be before, and you certainly can’t be twiddling thumbs for tomorrow), so bronze up your body of work, follow your heart, and chop back the weeds. Yes, those dirty garden shoots’ll be back, but clearing the cabbage patch for today will see your future fruits fill baskets in spades.

Subconsciously, we must be hanging out for a trip to Spotlight – we’re seeing a lot of flouncy fabrics in this spread. We get the impression you’re concealing something, perhaps not out of malice or secrecy, but instead perhaps because you’re concerned how others will respond should they know you have it. Our advice to you is to hold onto whatever it is you’re unsure about sharing – The Queen of Cups is all about trusting your intuition, and she’s keeping parts of that throne concealed with that lovely, lovely (seriously, where’d she get it, girl?) leopard print. See the child in The Sun card also pulling the sheet over a portion of his crop, and the sideburns sorcerer in the Four of Pentacles draping his bag o’ money with his cape. Trust the cards and reveal only the riches you’re comfortable with, and that’ll profit you the most now. This week’s all about redemption, so play the game smart!

Artistic Visions:

Start stenciling your scarlet letters, artists – this is a fabulous week for creativity. You’ve got all the tools you need at your disposal, and you’re ready to create (you just might not know it yet). This is also a week for digging deep into personal experiences and making something killer with what you know best.

Primary Colour of the Week: I SEE RED, I SEE RED, I SEE RED!

Be re(a)dy for your ultimate red-emption this week! Red is the colour of passion and persistence, and the shade to end all shame and anxiety about the course of your present and future. Whatever didn’t work is in the past; pick up your tools and nail the game with the tricks and talents you’ve learnt (and leave the faux pas at the door).

Wet those brushes and turn that phrase, PASTEL Magazine Issue #2 submissions close in two weeks! Now’s the time to set down the rose-coloured glasses, and get creative with your entries! Welcoming your work at pastelthemagazine@gmail.com. Make us blush!
