MIXED MEDIUM #4: The Fuschia Is Now!

A very special reading arrives this week, as we’re reminded, in a return to our original hue, of some of PASTEL’s core values – love, collaboration, and celebration. This week, we’re pretty in pink!

Love & Relationships:

PASPals in search of a partner (business or pleasure) are in luck this week, as there’s hardly been a better time to make some for your peers. This is the week to live your Sex & The City dream – get into some gaudy get-up, swipe on a slab of glitter, and get your beauties and beasts together for a great night out. Alternatively, if you are in the market for a corporate connection, pick up the phone and hustle, bish. Now’s a better time than ever to knock heads together with a couple of like-minded kickstarters, on a mission to blow Silicon Valley out of the water.

If you’re having anxieties about mixing with other people this week, know that our rosy spread has your back – The Two of Cups is bringing two together in some brand of harmonious matrimony (come on, minstrel in the yellow sheet, put a ring on it); the Three of Cups is an all-star girl group spicing up their life with a couple glasses of vino, and the Six of Cups sees a new relationship with many prospects promising to come into full bloom.

We at PASTEL are huge fans of community and getting together with talented folk (it’s difficult to run a compilation ‘zine without other people, oddly enough). We’re so proud of our original collaboration, the peachy Issue #1, and we hope you’ll enjoy the bonds you’re set to make this week, as we have ours.

Personal Growth:

When it comes to making decisions this week, the word on the psychic street is that it’s all about keeping a level head. The Queen of Swords is running this gig, and she’s not having any air-headed emotions spoiling the next seven days. In her card, we can see she’s rolled out her coral carpet on a slab of concrete somewhere out on some isolated pacific island – she can’t be bothered with the airy-fairies, or the emotionally overwhelmed. She’s serving HBIC, and honestly, if there were a Real Housewives of The Swords, she’d be the runaway fan favourite.

But enough about her – you’re following in her footsteps, this week. This is not the time to be shaking hands and breaking deals with your heart in the driver’s seat. Save your emotions for when you’ve hung up your tie and kicked off your heels; it’s time to get serious in business and in the responsibilities you’re juggling as an alive human being (and, if you’re not human, this is the time to get it together and understand the circus act the rest of us perform for loosely related remuneration).

Separate your buddies from your business; this is not a time for distraction. Your future may be on the line...

Artistry: This may be a week to relax a little, when it comes to content creation. Whether you’re a writer, a visual artist, a musician, or anything in between, this is the week to get out in the world and collect inspiration to inspire future pieces. Relate now to tomorrow in your practice, and seek out the new material you know you need (and if you didn’t know, you do now!). Live the stories you want to tell in your pieces – the authenticity you channel will pay off, big time.

Primary Colour of the Week: We’ve gotta be honest, we’re a little biased this week – pink is our OG shade, and we just can’t gloss over the colour that started it all. We’re celebrating salmon! Watermelon! Fuschia! Flamingo! Taffy! Rouge! Bubblegum! Ballet Slipper! Pink Lemonade! We could go on! The WikiList is long!

The time has come... to SUBMIT for your SPOT in PASTEL Magazine Issue #2! Submissions close THIS WEEK! Now’s the time to put that creative brain to the test, and get creative with your entries! Welcoming your work at pastelthemagazine@gmail.com. Melt our grey matter!
